How to Find a Home in Today's Market

  1. Send your agent to the Multiple Listing Service (MLS).The Multiple Listing Service or MLS is a complete searchable home listing database available in most areas of the United States to Professional Agents. Your Agent should have access if the service is available in your area. Your agent can search the home listings using the following categories;
    1. Address
    2. Region (MLS regions of City)
    3. Price
    4. Photograph
    5. Utilities (Central Heat, AC, Central Vacuum)
    6. Amenities (Bedrooms, Sq. Ft., Bathrooms, Etc.)
    7. Annual Property Tax
    8. Current Financing (when assumable)
    9. Listing Company
    10. Listing Agent

  2. Check the internet. For internet searches go to your favorite search engine, (LYCOS.COM, EXCITE.COM, YAHOO,COM) and just type in your destination plus homes or relocation. Start to develop your own list of things you would like to see in person and give those to your agent.

  3. Check the Paper/Magazines. Many people check through the Real Estate section of their local paper. This is effective, however not all properties on the market are listed. Send for Local Homes Magazines. Most large areas around the country are serviced by at least some type of “HOMES” magazine that lists local hot properties. The printers of the magazine will happily ship you a copy of the last couple of issues. Simply give them a call at 1-800-753-3643 or Click here to go to their website.
