State Park - Colorado River
Back to Main
Area
Map |
Pack a lunch and enjoy the day along the Colorado
River at one of the sections of Colorado River State Park. The park
offers great scenery and is a popular area for hiking, biking, picnicking,
fishing and swimming near the Colorado National Monument and the
Grand Mesa.
Unique to the park system, Colorado River State Park is actually
five sections of beautiful stops along the Colorado River as it
flows through the Grand Junction area. From Island Acres on the
east through Corn Lake, Wildlife Area, Connected Lakes and on down
the river to Fruita, this remarkable park has redefined what parks
are all about. The trail system winds through stands of tall trees
and along the banks of this famous and magnificent Western river.
Visitors can always stop along the way to enjoy great fishing and
picnics in delightful settings.
Interested in camping? Does being nestled along the Colorado River
in the bottom of Debeque Canyon sound good? Then Island Acres, 5
miles east of Palisade, is for you. Do you want to take in the scenic
lower Grand Valley with the Colorado National Monument as the backdrop?
Then plan to stay at Fruita. Both campgrounds are a great place
to relax or use as a base for a wide variety of area activities.
Island Acres and Fruita also offer a variety of day use activities
including swimming, picnicking, trails, fishing and boating for
hand propelled or electric powered craft. Group picnic facilities
are available and may be reserved by contacting the park.
